#6. Number 13’s uncle Patrick is undoubtedly correct that this is the most under-reported foreign policy story right now. An Indian colleague of mine actually reads the local coverage in Kashmir and he was really freaking out last week. But CTRL-F “Kashmir” on the NYT’s international section turns up nothing, of course. I wonder what degree of crisis is required to penetrate the MSM editorial bubble. I’d guess the odds of a Kashmir question at tonight’s debate are less than 2%.
Amusing anecdote I learned from my girlfriend, who went to high school with Olivia Wilde: she was very self-conscious about her last name (before she changed it) and insisted people pronounce it “CO-burn”. I think it’s a bit funny because her parents and uncle (and maybe some other members of her family?) are all highly-lauded journalists who’ve won many awards, and probably deserve to be more famous than they already are.
Whoops! I mixed up Eric Margolis’ article with a different one by Patrick Cockburn I’d read on Unz today. But I always like to share the Olivia Wilde anecdote, so no loss.
